It can be scary to watch your child go through hardships. Sometimes, you do not know how to help them but fear not! Through mental health therapy, our experienced counselors can guide your child through their struggles and help them thrive again.
Children
They will grow out of it, right?
Your child has been complaining of stomachaches a lot lately. They’re anxious, crying a lot, worrying about their mistakes, and having a hard time making friends. Your little baby is suffering, and you would do anything to make it better.
If truth be told, you are feeling just as anxious about it all.
It’s scary seeing your child reverting to previous behaviors (security blanket, thumb sucking, etc.). They’ve stop playing or doing well in school and tell you “this is boring” about activities that they used to enjoy.
Children are resilient and can learn to cope quickly, but sometimes it is more serious.
How do you know when to bring your child to counseling?
Your child’s behaviors are disruptive to others around them, and their worries and sadness are making them miss out on playing and being a kid.
It is important that children learn to cope and be independent over time so that they develop healthy habits for their life as an adult.
Tweens
Where is that instruction manual?
Well, they’re not children anymore, but they are not ready to be a teen. Help!
Now they are more emotional and dealing with the start of their hormonal development.
Tweens notice their peers more and more and begin to compare themselves relentlessly to each other. They lose that confidence to be the adventurers that they were just a few short years ago.
What is normal? When do I get worried about my preteen?
Your tween will complain about headaches and stomachaches, and they will feel tired all the time, but not sleep much when anxiety is present. They may not take criticism or mistakes well and “rant” about things or become very quiet. You will notice that they are obsessing over certain things that never bothered them before.
What’s important is to notice when moods and behaviors are causing disruption to others or getting them into trouble at home or in school.
Teens
You can get through these years.
You are not alone in your struggles of raising children or being a child. This is part of the natural order of life.
It is overwhelming at times. It is awe-inspiring at other times.
