Reclaim your story.
Life is traumatic and sometimes trauma tells our story. Sometimes other people tell it for us. Through mental health counseling, I want to help you take your story back, take back your power and control. Whether it is reclaiming your story from a traumatic experience, being your own hero, or battling with depression or anxiety, I am here to be your support character, providing you with the means to heal. I work with a wide range of protagonists, from children to adults. I work to provide a safe place for anyone to come and share their story, the way that they need to and in the amount of time that they need to do it.
My professional history
I do a lot of work with Solution Focused Therapy, Collaborative Language Systems, and Narrative Therapy. I am partial to Narrative Therapy because you can play around with it and make your own characters; however, I do believe in tailoring my approaches to meet the needs of my clients. YOU are the expert of your life. I enjoy bringing not only my interests but most importantly the interests of my clients into the therapy room.
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been working with clients for six years. I received my Master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University. So far, my work has centered around trauma, specifically Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault; however, in mental health therapy we tend to work on more than just the trauma, like couples coming in because they are facing the green monster of jealousy, a teenager on the path to self-discovery, or even children facing family drama or bullying. I believe that when I am working with an individual, I am still working relationally because we are social and relational beings. A lot of our troubles are related to our relationships in some form or fashion.
Who I am out of the office
Outside of the therapy room, I have a wide range of interests from knitting to riding horses. I enjoy video games (which I can incorporate into therapy) and anime, but I also love to travel and to go on adventures. I love animals and have a lot. Feel free to ask me about my sugar gliders! I enjoy learning and believe that I learn something new every day.
