Areas of Focus

I am a former educator from the area who decided to go back to school after a close family member began struggling with mental health symptoms and received a diagnosis. I obtained my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University in 2021. I completed my internship hours at Baptist Behavioral Hospital, and once they were completed, I was offered a position as the therapist on the children’s floor, serving ages 6 to 12. I remained in that role for four years. During this past year, I’ve taken time to explore which area of counseling allows me to thrive, and I’ve found that private practice offers the flexibility that I need to be the best therapist I can be.

I work with children (ages 6–12), adolescents (13–17), young adults, and adults, provided there are no current custodial issues for minors. While I offer couples counseling, it is only on a limited basis and typically as a last resort. I have a strong interest in supporting individuals who suffer from chronic pain and autoimmune diseases. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, mindfulness meditation, psychoeducation, coping strategies, problem-solving skills, play therapy, and narrative therapy.

Who I am out of the office

I have two grown children, a son who lives near Abilene, TX, and a daughter who lives in Lumberton and works in Port Arthur at Motiva. I’ve also been blessed with an 18-month-old granddaughter, and I’m happiest when I’m spending time with her. Though I’m often described as introverted, my favorite moments are those spent with family. I love counseling others. My training in both academics and life make me a well-rounded professional, but my light-hearted nature helps create a comfortable space where clients feel safe and at ease to open up and grow.
