Life can be tough.

It is confusing, unpredictable, complicated, and exhausting. It is full of uncertainties and challenges.

We expect the best, but we are not prepared for the worst.

We assume many roles in life, and multiple things can demand our attention.

Life can get heavy.

So many pressures weigh us down, and we worry about tomorrow before focusing on today.

We experience mood and behavior problems when we struggle to cope with the parts of life that we cannot control.

You can take control of your life through mental health counseling.

You can take control of how you think and how you act through mental health therapy. This empowers us to handle the various difficulties in our life while greatly lowering the stress from our daily responsibilities.

You can learn to overcome the traumas and misfortunes from your past and take control of the direction of your future. You can replace your self-defeating habits with healthier lifestyle choices. You can achieve and succeed each day while reaching your personal goals. Every moment becomes an opportunity.

If you are having trouble managing your stressors, adjusting to new or changing circumstances, moving forward from trauma, grieving from a loss, or controlling unstable moods, then take the steps toward the best mental health that awaits you. You can create a better future for yourself by seeking out mental health services!

Without effort there is no progress, and without progress there is no change.

Areas of experience

I have been working in the fields of Professional Counseling and Social Services for over 30 years in the southeast Texas area. I am a graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont where I received both a Bachelors Degree in Social Work (1989) and a Masters of Education Degree in Counseling & Development (2000). I have worked in long-term care, inpatient psychiatric treatment, hospice services, and outpatient mental and behavioral health counseling services.

What to expect during mental health therapy

I provide an integrated approach to mental health counseling that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused therapy, and Reality Therapy. I evaluate the present level of mental health functioning and assist the client in developing a plan to attain the needed skills and utilizing effective strategies to better cope with difficult situations for improved personal outcomes.

Who I am out of the office

I live in Beaumont with my amazing wife to whom I have been married for over 30 years. We have three adult children and three beautiful granddaughters (and two large, spoiled dogs).

I love sports and I enjoyed many great years coaching youth baseball and soccer while my two sons were growing up. I am a proud Christian with a desire to help others. When I am not busy, I enjoy being with my family; taking scenic trips; and going to music concerts/festivals, sporting events, and trade days weekends to keep the good vibes going.
