I have a passion for helping others find their own strengths to live life to the fullest. I'm not the kind of counselor that utters a few "uh-huhs" while you talk for an hour. I have a straightforward approach that is philosophically CBT, however creative and eclectic in techniques. I like to challenge you to take a new perspective and give you useful tools for your life’s journey. Your life story is beautifully imperfect just like the rest of us, and I want to help you to embrace your stories in order to propel you toward the new ending that you desire. Your journey awaits!

I began my counseling career in 2004 at the Crisis Center of SETX where I worked with victims of crime. I also directed the education department to bring public awareness to the subjects of sexual assault and suicide. In 2006, I began work as a career counselor in the TDCJ prison system assisting inmates in their transition back to the free community. I continued my career for almost 6 years in the criminal justice system as a teacher/facilitator of a cognitive-behavioral group. I specialized in anger & violence, self-control, problem solving, domestic violence and parenting counseling.

In 2011, I left the state prison system and decided to venture into private practice, where I worked primarily with substance abuse, anger, and codependency cases and contracted with local probation departments for offender education programs. 2014 was the pivotal year, I added other local therapists to help build a group practice. My vision was to work as a collaborative team to provide counseling to our local underserved rural counties. To date, we have created a thriving practice with more than10 clinicians and 3 office locations.

I love to travel and seek adventure in my free time, and in recent years have become a novice hiker and photographer. I have been married to my adoring husband, James, for 20 years and we share 3 adult children, Robert (and daughter-in-law Ashley), Colin and Reis. We are Lollie & Pop to our adorable grandsons, Rowdy and Knox!
